How do you create social media content that works everywhere?

Regardless of the platforms, I think there are 2 key components of social media content that works everywhere: 1) Addressing your target audience 2) Active communication (listening & responding) Once you address the problems your prospects are trying to overcome, your social media content will be invaluable and invulnerable as a result of being: ?? Platform-free ?? Valuable ?? Timeless As long as you have a decent understanding of your target audience, your brand can be relatable to them anywhere. The second component is about being present in the conversation! Because things are happening almost in real-time on social media, reacting timely and being part of the communication can help your efforts to be more effective.

Before you dive into the content sea, remember this: clarity is power. Define your purpose, know your audience – that's where the magic begins. Are you aiming to spread brand love, reel in leads, be the ultimate in customer care, or forge a tight-knit community? Understand your dream customers inside out: their struggles, desires, what tickles their curiosity. Tailor your content to their preferred hangouts, and serve 'em value like there's no tomorrow. With clear goals and a deep connection, you'll ride the wave of success and measure it every step of the way.

This is important for an example if I know video is something that benefit my business and it's B2C I would prefer to make a 1 min video and circulate on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube for best results.

A common mistake I've seen brands make is blasting the same content across all platforms. It's not just a missed opportunity; it actually undermines your efforts. Each platform has its unique strengths and audience. For example, a casual Instagram Story may not resonate on LinkedIn's professional backdrop. By using a 'one-size-fits-all' approach, you're essentially ignoring the specific culture and etiquette of each platform, not to mention algorithmic nuances. So, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, try customizing your message and format for each platform. Your audience will thank you, and so will your analytics!

Selecting the appropriate platforms is akin to strategically choosing the battleground for your social media content creation efforts.

Every platform has a theme/ecosystem for content that resonates with users. A good amount of content can be cross-posted across popular platforms; however, it's also best to tailor the copy for it so that it feels relevant to users following you on the respective accounts.

Content calendar is the roadmap to consistency, it is like a compass in navigating the the buyer's journey. Otherwise, one is navigating blindly, prone to posting sporadically.

I think Canva is good in this where you can make one piece of content and just change it's dimensions as per platform and schedule accordingly.

For me, Canva is the most versatile tool. Canva empowers you to whip up content that's not only informative but also incredibly engaging and entertaining. So, for every social media manager, having Canva at your disposal is like having a well-stocked in the digital world.

Repurposing and adapting content saves you a lot of time in content creation. It has been talked about plenty on LinkedIn, but some key steps and thoughts you have to take into consideration are: 1. What are the platforms and target audience you have? 2. What are the topics you should be talking about? You should focus first on the topic you want to delve into. You can start by creating a blog article that can easily be breakable into five different LinkedIn Posts, 3 carousel Instagram posts and even small videos for Tiktok, Reels and shorts. Adapt the language, tone of voice and format, but maintain the content - you will only have to research and build the bulk of your content once and you can repurpose it enough for many other times.

I would proceed with caution when adapting content for other platforms. It CAN be done, but you have to take into consideration the audience and language you’re using on the platform. Each platform has a different audience with different expectations. Make sure your content can bridge the divide between platforms before commiting to adapting content.

Before social media platforms - the objective was to get the story, ask questions, show examples - in such a way that the audience would see themselves or seek answers to help them. This is still the case, for B2B & B2C. Today's, there's an interest in authenticity, less polish, even entertainment for some platforms - capture content with all these things in mind to multi-purpose your content.

At times, you need to make bespoke content that is exclusive or unique to each platform. At the same time, you can tailor/repurpose the format for other platforms (e.g. infographics can work on LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Instagram; the latter would love to have them as simpler pictograms that people can view as carousels, and the other two can handle slightly longer vertical formats.)

We repurpose content to reinforce a message, or maximize or replacating the same reach if such content was proven a success in the past, or sometimes to stay relevant.

Know your key performance indicators, what they mean to your goals, and track them to understand historically how content performs. Know which data points are meaningful to your goals, and track those to understand the contents' progress and success. Content return on investment success is not always clear, or easily measured in dollars, so clarity on the data points and how success is measured helps. Get comfortable with reviewing content indicators, hypothesizing, and experimenting with aspects of your content to optimize those results. With enough curiosity, every indicator can tell its own story and add to the content optimization experiment.

There are a few really great sources online for creating content. One that comes to mind that speaks directly to your “audience” and my favorite is Answer the public. It provides search insights aka data populated generated from actual search results of specific key words You add 1-2 keywords and ATP provides you with questions and data that are straight from your target audience. It’s free (there is also a paid version too, no affiliation, but worth it) Ie. Type in their dashboard: Personal Branding Data: -Why is Personal Branding so important? -How can Personal Branding influence our future? Etc You can take any of those questions and create a Live, article, newsletter, carousels, etc A treasure trove of content ideas.

First, figure out which social media platforms your audience spends time on. Then, take your main content idea and change the format to fit each platform. For example, make it short for Twitter, use pictures for Instagram, or make it more professional for LinkedIn. By doing this, your content can work well in all these different places where your audience is.

Every social media channel has a different audience. Therefore, your content tone and sometimes topics will change depending on your social media channel. This is why it's important to think of your content strategy holistically. By first creating a content strategy that has well-defined overarching goals, themes, and content purpose. Your content strategy will guide your social media strategy, which will also adapt to the specific channel(s).
