How do you craft a message your audience can't ignore?

Often this insight comes naturally when you work passionately in a particular industry for long enough. I find the more niche your industry, the easier it is to speak directly to your audience. Often to get to this point of successful communication, you’ll have to repel the wrong type of audience to attract the right one.

If you know your audience..their mindsets, their needs, their liking & disliking ..means you've almost achieve your goal! You should how demographics can impact on their behavioural aspects.. You can also identify their problems based on age groups , ethnicity etc. Not only you have to identify the problems but also come up with the appropriate solution to win their hearts?!!

A lot of times, we have to get to know the profiles of our audience. An easy way would be to have a look at the participants list. The topics are often fixed and it is good to throw experiences and snippets of things to the floor. This encourages 2 way dialogue which will encourages more sharing. Hope this helps. I love the use of the word "craft". A great presentation is crafted. It takes your idea on a three part journey - I GET IT- This is the critical crafting of understanding. I VALUE IT - This takes the idea to a level of value. I CAN APPLY IT (in the context of what I do) - Want your idea to stick with an audience, show them the actual application. These are the three key pieces of crafting an engaging idea.

"Knowing Your Audience." will be my first priority ?? For me, when crafting a message you're crafting an experience tailored to your audience. ?? Whether you're sharing insights, hacks, or stories, remember to tap into what matters most to them. Think about their aspirations, challenges, and the knowledge they're hungry for. When you hit that sweet spot, you're not just posting – you're building connections and sparking conversations that truly matter.

To make your message resonate, anchor it in a strong reason or "why." This foundation ensures your message is both genuine and memorable. Stay true to this intent, and your communication will naturally captivate your audience and always let your intent guide what you say.

The goal should be clear from the beginning. In particular, focussing on it throughout the whole process. Visualize it in a way that you always can see it.

So often people voice their opinion just to be heard, but effective communication comes when there is a very intentional purpose. The magic happens when your purpose aligns with the insights your audience is looking to receive.

You definitely have to know your “why” so that it makes sense to you which translates to your audience. Your “why” let’s your audience know to understand their need.

Storytelling is the best start. You need an involving story so that your audience feels that you are speaking about them. Often the usage of "YOU" is helpful to engage with the audience.

Wow! It’s all the elements of a gripping storyline. A roller coaster with a hero, guide and villain. To polish it all off, the storyteller (aka service provider who is the guide) gets to solve all the problems and make it a happy ending. Am I wrong?

I'm fortunate to have been in the same job for many years, so I'm familiar with my audience, but I find presentations work the best with direct scenarios they face and examples that they can relate to. I also try to think about what draws me in as a listener. If I can't relate to the message, then I don't get much from it. Giving real examples, laying out scenarios and offering step-by-step solutions really helps you connect to your audience.

People will forget facts but remember stories. Build your speech in facts but deliver it by weaving in stories. Be vulnerable Share from the heart And be present. What a beautiful thing it is to share an intimate connection with a crowd!

I see this all the time. Keeping your messaging short enough for someone in our distracted society to digest, but deep enough and authentic do that the message resonates. If the content is not from the heart, it becomes apparent. The challenge becomes digging deep into your values and not being afraid to voice them openly.

use simple ways to ensure that your audience can remember your key message. Something tangible is always a good way to resonate with your audience.

Start with a story to help audience understanding the concept and proposed an end of lesson goal what they should learn at the end of the story

Confidence doesn't mean that you must show the participants about anything. It just means that we must have the right data to support what we are saying. if you are confident and you share your message with energy, passion, and impact, it has a higher probability of landing in the same way to the audience.

I use a standup desk as I feel it helps me project, breath freely and exude an air of confidence. I show my intelligence in the way I can speak with authority on the topic and don’t need to prove myself but rather offer my experience in order to help others. This creates report and trust. No one likes a know it all show off so being humble on your delivery goes a long way.

You're more confident when you're prepared. Knowing the exact points and how you're going to say it makes a massive difference in delivery. Some people don't want to prepare a script of bullet points or rehearse because it won't be "fresh" for them. So they end up giving a choppy, hesitant or rambling delivery. There's no shame in preparation and rehearsals, as the delivery is definitely more confident and polished.

Confidence comes with practice. Not one stand-up comedian has ever walked onto the stage for the very first time and recorded a Netflix special. Rather they spent countless hours refining their jokes and their delivery through performing. Jerry Seinfeld started his comedy career in 1976, yet he still made an unannounced open mic night in 2016, testing material and practicing his craft. Don't be afraid to practice through doing!

I've spent a career as a news anchor on television. Today, when I am coaching clients on their public speaking, I encourage them to record 1 minute of thoughts into their phone daily. It can be a 'thought dump' of what worked, what didn't work today. The point of the exercise is to see what tics and habits he or she has when public speaking. There is no better feedback loop than seeing yourself on screen.

The final step in crafting an irresistible message involves gathering feedback and making improvements: *Audience Input* Gather opinions and suggestions from your audience, whether through surveys, discussions, or other forms of interaction. *Observation* Pay close attention to how your audience reacts and engages during and after your message. *Peer Assessment* Seek evaluations from mentors, coaches, or peers to assess content, structure, and delivery. *Refinement* Apply the feedback received to enhance your message, making necessary adjustments until it achieves the desired impact. Through ongoing feedback and refinement, your message becomes increasingly captivating and resonates effectively with your audience.

Feedback helps us to improve our skills. Be discerning about WHO you're getting feedback from. Assessing the audience can give you some feedback. However, we can sometimes misread them. For example if someone frowns, perhaps they're thinking or they thought of a task they forgot to do. A peer or boss might give opinions based on what they like or would do themselves. That may not be suitable for you. Ideally get feedback from a professional who is objective and can break it down and suggest the most efficient adjustments that will vastly improve your performance.

Make it about them! It’s really that simple. Whether selling something (as is the aim of approaches like the PASTOR approach referenced above) or simply communicating important information, your message will resonate with your audience if they recognize what’s in it for them. Remember, everyone you meet is the main character in their own “Hero’s Journey.” So, be sure your key messages help people along in their “story.”

As a speaker, you must understand that time is precious for everyone, including your audience. If they don't resonate with your message, it's a waste of time for both of you. That's why it's essential to understand your audience first and craft a message that resonates with them. When they leave, they should remember you and your message.

Start with a relatable story. Solicit emotion and then get into the practical problem-solution. People relate to stories and when it touches their heart, the brain wants to know more. It’s human nature, not rocket science. :)

Dale Carnegie was the author of "How to Win Friends and Influence People." He also wrote an outstanding book on public speaking called "Public Speaking for Success." Here's what Carnegie said was the BIG secret to his success as a speaker, trainer, and sales person. When asked, "What's the secret to your sales success?" He answered: "I AM SOLD." Carnegie knew the power of Conviction. The #1 key for crafting an unforgettable message is: design and deliver your message with Conviction. Instead of asking yourself: "What am I trying to say?" Ask: WHY am I convinced this is vital for my audience? Slides, jokes, stories, quotations, are all helpful speaking tools. But the #1 ingredient for a compelling speech is CONVICTION.

This work is well done, I can contribute that at the end of the speech it should make the audience feel more empowered and willing to implement
