In our organization, we've leveraged the empathy building power of observing users directly interacting with our products. We've done this in a variety of ways. Filming user testing sessions and including powerful clips of victories and pain points go a long way in making research real for stakeholders. We've also invited key stakeholders to be observers and note takers in research sessions and held analysis open hours inviting key decision makers into the analysis process. There is a strong impression visual, illustrations, pictures, graphics, etc have on an individual. Human being tends to connect more with something that they can see and visualise. This being said, visuals and stroy telling is one of the more effective ways to pass a message to a stack holder reasons being that most stake holder don't understand the UX Designer's perspective to a design matter and it is very important that you demonstrate this through clear and compelling visuals and try to tell a stroy and how the pieces of the puzzles connect with each other to deliver a cohesive and efficient user experience.
