One of the things about motivational speaking is that you own, understand, acknowledge, and are confident in what you have to offer. You also know that you don’t know everything! But you stick with what you know. And you know things by researching and studying that which you plan to speak about. You find out who are the people you are speaking to. Understand that some may know more than you, while others are coming to learn from you. Meet them all where they are. Speak to how what you’re speaking about has impacted you. Allow them to feel and understand how you dealt with, handled, and overcame the situation in which your speaking about. Make it personable without going into extreme detail. Allow them to connect to your process to succeed

Asking for a referral from a trusted friend or acquaintance is a good way of facilitating an introduction to a mentor. This helps breaks the ice and smooths the way to a productive initial conversation and making a good first impression

Consider adding value for your mentor by introducing him or her to someone they don’t know yet who could be a great connection. I’ve done this so often and have seen it offers great value. This “exchange of value” isn’t just about introducing someone to someone you already know. Just yesterday I was asked to introduce a colleague to other VP’s like him. In my line of work, I have somewhat a unique situation in that there aren't many well-known professional numerologists. When your work is fairly original or not all that common, it can be more of a challenge to find others in your field who are interested in collaborating, learning and growing together. Also, often times I find, due to the fact my work is more rare, there is a greater likelihood of resistant due to competitiveness. This last one has definitely been my greatest obstacle in connecting with potential mentors and colleagues.

I agree with the take here. If we know little of nothing about the subject we seek mentoring in, then a symbiotic, partnering relationship is much harder to achieve. I find mentoring works best, and is most symbiotic, when I adopt a CI approach, as opposed to seeking one of my problems to be solved. That way, I'm looking to improve an existing competency via someone else's input and the 'vice versa' factor can be present. I can give back too. This to mee is the true value of mentoring - where mentor and mentee both grow.

In my experience, we arrive into the human race, download into our hard-drive (body) what we are going to do, create this plan through collaboration with others, put meaning to our personal human project, share and give back what we’ve experienced, and we’re off to our next adventure! Through this process, we get to search for our truest authentic self and bring what is housed in our non-conscious to our conscious…. That being the spiritual being that is having a human experience…. The ultimate blessing of this journey is that we matter, every eye-blink of our experience matters, and through collective consciousness (which I call the network) we share every second of our human journey with all 7.96 billion other humans as we are truly one.
