LinkedIn for online networking: It is important to first curate a nest representative profile and engage actively on the platform - with people, content, and articles. 2. Conferences for online networking: Participate in conferences both as a presenter and/or a observer. This gives us more visibility and space to show our niche and network with potent network heads.

One thing I always do is look for an association that has a mission that connects with my passion for instance I am a member of NSBE National Society of Black Engineers and I volunteered to serve on Special Interest Group within the society. This organization is established to help techies or engineers navigate their college life into career. I find that most folks in this type of not for profit organization are also business leaders/parents/ entrepreneurs all things that connect with my passions.

To connect with people who share my passions, I've taken a proactive approach by joining clubs and societies that align with my interests, such as triathlon and running clubs. I have intentionally tried to look through these communities for people in my region and set up in-person meetups. Additionally, if I am travelling (even for personal reasons), I'll do a quick search to see if there's anyone in that region to meet up with. Even if you're not part of a formal community, reaching out to individuals you are connected with on LinkedIn also counts. I have done this quite a bit and love it!

Maintaining contact is often the most challenging yet crucial aspect of networking. I diligently call all my contacts every few months to stay connected. Surprisingly, over time, even those initially indifferent often come to view me as a friend. It's equally important to keep in touch with individuals outside your immediate industry, as you never know how future opportunities might arise from these connections.

I’ve taken the time to explore a multi pronged approach to initiating and maintaining contact. Firstly online communities comparable to what others have suggested have been mapped and explored with a handful joined and ongoing participation sustained. Further, in recent years I participated in an online professional course of study where since graduating I continue to be a fellow - a mentor to others wanting to grow in the social impact space. Finally, in person engagement at various conferences or workshops lead to one on one coffee conversations with folks I met through the conference or through online events. Effort and energy lead to rewarding moments of shared idea and lessons learned.

You cannot be somebody else in a longer term. Hope You've had the opportunity before to find to right groups and people where You can be yourself, honestly. This is another way of being in flow. The best. I think You'll feel inside when you're in a good place, when people are open about you, your opinions, what matters to you. Once You've found a group like this, don't let it go. And on the other hand help this community with your inner personality, thoughts, great ideas, visions and also connections.

Ever since I actually chose to network personally and professionally it is so much significant to be yourself and respectful, it comes in handy if you take it. While growing up especially in my school days I was a child to talk, socialise and connect with my peers and circle and it really helped me gain confidence. In this journey I was always respecting people's opinions and understanding the differences. Other side I was very honest about my self who I am saying no to dramatic actions if any. It all depends on the passion, how esoteric it is, what type of people one wishes to connect with, and why. For instance, if one is a golfer, it’s very easy to show up at a local golf course and ask the folks in the pro shop to set you up whenever there’s a spot available. You might have to wait but then, hey presto, you’re fixed with three complete strangers but you all have something amazing and wonderful in common - your love for golf! Great way to connect and make new friends with a shared passion of a lifetime.

You need to understand that everything depends on your hobby. You can’t just say - I’m passionate about haute cuisine - come join me and let’s be friends. The most correct thing is to identify the places where the right people gather, then systematically visit these places and meet people there. The right move is to listen to the speeches and come up with comments. Moreover, in order to identify the right group of people, you need to read a lot of highly specialised literature, paying attention to who the author is, to whom the author refers.

I find people who share my passions by bringing my passions into regular networking. I'm something of a geek, and I've attended networking meetings dressed as a Jedi and a Ghostbuster, and I've brought toys such as Transformers into networking meetings and asked my referral partners to keep an eye out when in clients' offices or homes for similar items - and to introduce me if they find one. It works too. I have quite a few connections now with business owners who build Lego, for example.
