In my approach, the foundation for establishing the change request process would be to define governance principles. This involves Clearly articulate the governance framework for change requests, specifying roles and responsibilities. Articulate roles and responsibilities, identifying stakeholders with initiation authority. Initiator Criteria: Define criteria for initiators, such as project managers, key stakeholders, or subject matter experts. Documentation Requirements: Communicate clear documentation requirements through a standardized template capturing essential elements. Communication Plan: Develop a comprehensive communication plan informing stakeholders about change request.

Impact analysis is key to successful project. Baseline is very critical step in identifying the change request.Make sure o apply assumptions.

DO proper impact analysis . Create proper relationship mechanisms with the affected requirements.Prioritize the functional and non functional requirements.

If you work in an agile environment, like I do, you will understand that, change is your friend and you need to get used to it. But in implementing those changes, you need to conduct different levels of impact analysis. 1) If the impact is within you sphere of control, as a product owner, all you need to do is identify the impacted areas, communicate with your stakeholders (including the development team), and if the coast is clear, you can proceed. 2) However, if the impact is beyond your sphere of control, that is, you will be crossing some system boundaries; you need to inform and involve the impacted Product Owners. Until you get approval from them, you may not proceed with the change.
