Thus, my suggestion is to be well versed with any software at your disposal and know that most of the catering layout software have a lot of commonalities, so if you're familiar with at least one software then adapting to another shouldn't take long. Another component to successfully streamline your events is to actually communicate to all departments often and properly. Sometimes this means over-communicating especially when changes occur in the plan, other times this means strictly giving your team members details that pertain to their department.

Don't forget to map out your data - what information is coming from where? Who needs to get what details when? Most software can accomplish what you're doing, but you need to be really clear on what you're doing so you don't get bogged down in what the software wants to distract you with.
