Quality policy and objectives are mandatories for ISO 9001 and as such need to be active and living documents, not those stuck away in a drawer only to be looked at during third party audit or management review. These documents state the reason for doing what we're doing and providing measurable information to be able to ensure effective progress. If used correctly the status of the corporate plan will be visible and any change requirements available to the senior team. A positive quality culture needs to be developed to facilitate this.

In my experience, this needs to be done from a standpoint of true authenticity and strong relationship foundation. We have seen time and time again that the the willingness to participate meaningfully in these kinds of activities is related to the relationships that exist prior to those activities taking place. In short, don't use these kinds of sessions to build culture and performance. Instead, work to build authentic & meaningful relationships that activities like this can be propped up on with a high degree of stability.
