How do you combine seaborn with pandas and numpy for efficient data manipulation and visualization?

I start with Pandas. Once you learn how to plot with it, I think the basics are easier than Matplotlib. If I need to do faceting or fancy plots then I look to Seaborn. I generally only resort to Matplotlib when I need to customize the look of my plot.

One example where Seaborn would be crucial for visualization over other libraries is when creating statistical visualizations. Seaborn offers a high-level interface for creating statistical plots, making it easier to generate complex visualizations with relatively few lines of code. For instance, Seaborn offers specialized statistical plots such as violin plots, box plots, and swarm plots, which are not available in other visualization libraries like Matplotlib. These plots can be used to effectively visualize the distribution of data and show the relationship between variables in a dataset.

One key takeaway here is to import data consistently from file it originally comes from. That helps keeps the displayed information consistent in both the notebook/editor and the found source. Saving with a different file format can affect the data being displayed in the editor. For instance, if one uses Excel to manipulate information with arithmetic functions, then it is advisable to use read_excel instead of read_csv, which does not parse the calculated value in the cell (if the formula is "=A1+B1", then that string is explicitly displayed).

I've often confused the .loc and .iloc methods: .loc is used to select rows and columns by label or boolean array, whereas .iloc is used to select rows and columns by integer index. To select all rows and the columns "A" and "B", you would use: df.loc[:, ['A', 'B']] To select the first three rows and the first two columns, you would use: df.iloc[:3, :2]

Pandas has a huge API. Learn what is possible then practice what you find necessary. Make sure you keep an open mind if others happen to be doing things that you should include in your workflow.

Choose the appropriate chart type for your data 1. Use color effectively to highlight important information 2. Pay attention to axis labels and titles 3. Remove unnecessary clutter and gridlines 4. Use annotations to provide context and additional information 5. Test and iterate your visualizations to ensure they effective 6. communicate your message.

Seaborn's pairplot function can also be used to visualize the relationship between multiple variables in a dataset, which can help to identify potential errors or inconsistencies. For example, if there is a strong linear relationship between two variables but there are a few points that deviate significantly from the trend, this may be a sign of data errors or outliers. Overall, while Seaborn is not specifically designed for identifying data errors, its visualizations can be a helpful tool in detecting potential issues in a dataset. However, it's important to note that data visualization should not be used as a substitute for careful data cleaning and quality control processes.

Visualizations and models depend directly on the data used. How you cleanse your data, handle nulls, NA, Nans, etc. will affect your results. Using seaborn with pandas can let you quickly visualize data entry errors or determine which data is useful for model generation by determining outliers or bad data. It will also allow you to quickly determine if your data source was imported correctly into the desired columns. This is beneficial whether a direct import from csv, excel or web scraping.
