How do you collaborate with other teams?

Once you choose to collaborate based on your strength & weeknesses and of your prospective collaborators, it is easy to manage the collaboration going forward. The clarity of roles w.r.t. strengths & weeknesses, leads to little less turbulant journey. You can then focus on things that are to be done as a team.

To build a sound team need is to remain connected with them,incorporate your ideas and vision to them, exchange thoughts, understand team needs and issues to divert focus of each team member to achieve goals of the organization.With strong,dedicated and strong teams everything can be achieved by utilizing them as per their capabilities,right person for right job is remain key to success that can be drived by wise team lead.

Establish clear communication channels and regular check-ins. Align on shared goals and metrics. Leverage each team's strengths and insights for holistic solutions.

Throughout my sales career, I've grasped the pivotal role of leading a collaboration in nurturing successful teams. I’ve learned when aligning with marketing and ensuring consistency, you’re amplifying impact and increasing resonance. When you closely work with your customer success teams, your customers needs are virtually fulfilled. Finally, harmony with leadership transcends transactions, ultimately spilling over into the culture and creates enduring customer ties. These collaborations, are pivotal and when executed well, you create a synergy beyond parts, enriching your sales culture and achieving excellence.

One thing that has worked for me is putting myself in their shoes and understanding the kind of work they do. It often leads to good relationships that are built during those discussions.

I would always say that " No man is an Island of knowledge ". Team collaboration is key in every organisation because it helps to achieve organisational goals and personal goals. Effective communication aids collaboration with other team members as it helps to reduce conflicts amongst team members and saves time in achieving goals.

There is no such thing as overcommunication. If a problem or opportunity arises, reach out. Start the dialogue and work through issues before they become monsters in your organization.

Sometimes oversharing is best. Even though our inboxes are already flooded with emails, just being open and communicative is important for everyone. If someone misses something, there is an email to back it up. There's no such thing as oversharing.

Meet in person regularly. Face to face creates clarity and camaraderie. Foster healthy competition for the greater good.

Have regular meetups and speak openly. Be it 1:1s, team meeting or a simple coffee chat, speaking with other people is crucial when it comes to working together. Open and honest feedback are definitely the way to go!

I love having back up on everything. So if anything comes up, I can show where that piece of information came from or point out where someone said something.

Sharing insights and resources with other teams is crucial for collaboration. By exchanging customer feedback, market trends, best practices, case studies, testimonials, and referrals, we can create value for each other and our customers. Additionally, leveraging their expertise, tools, data, and networks can improve our sales performance and efficiency.

It's important to remember the bigger picture/overall goal here. How can each of the teams empower the other? what insights can you provide/receive that will assist in achieving the vision? A connected, collaborative team is bound to succeed more than a disconnected and isolated one. You need to provide to receive and take a fair and balanced approach to ensure your collaboration is a two-way beneficial one.

You already know how to "play" this through relationships with other department members etc. Cultivate the same skills here, be respectful, and avoid being pushy. Build relationships with other teams, and you may strike surprising connections with individuals whom you find to have more in common. This will help you get things done while not overstepping your mark. Ask yourself how you would react if someone made the same request that you are asking before you approach this.

This one is tough. Everyone has their interests in mind even when it goes against ours. In my role, sometimes I have to put that aside if it means getting future business.

The fourth step to collaborate with other teams is to respect their boundaries and preferences. Respecting their boundaries and preferences means acknowledging their autonomy, authority, and workload. You should not interfere with their processes, decisions, or schedules, unless you have a valid reason and permission. You should also respect their preferred communication styles, work hours, and feedback methods. By respecting their boundaries and preferences, you can build trust and rapport with other teams.

Remember that your team is the one upholding the promises you made to your customers. Acknowledge the work that they are putting into keeping your customers happy. Simple thank you's, emails or even a chat to tell them you see and recognize what they are doing goes a long way. Don't be the sales person that is perceived as egotistical or only in it for the money. Recognize the role that you play as the quarterback of customer relationships and step up to the role of the uniter and motivator.

It always feels nice to be appreciated so I always dish out thanks for contributions. It's a tiny gesture that takes little effort that goes a long way to letting people know they are appreciated.

The fifth step to collaborate with other teams is to appreciate their contributions and achievements. Appreciating their contributions and achievements means recognizing and celebrating their work and impact. You should express your gratitude, praise, and recognition for their support, collaboration, and results. You should also provide constructive feedback, suggestions, and recommendations for improvement. By appreciating their contributions and achievements, you can foster a positive and collaborative culture.

This is a big one and goes a very long way. Share the credit and build a solid relationship. Appreciating contributions from other teams and team members helps build trust and rapport. Tread carefully when giving constructive feedback if they are not under your remit, and look for the best way to approach this (direct/indirect).

There will always be common factors between teams that we can learn from, be it a skill set, market knowledge. At the end of the day, teams should be working as one unit towards one goal: growth! So share!
