With scripts and schedulers, data collection and analysis become streamlined. By letting automation handle the routine, data scientists can devote their energy to the more creative and intricate aspects of their work.

From my experience, the best way is to set short cycles. Data scientists can linger on a few percentage points of some metric for months when cycles are not kept short. Often, this improvement will yield nothing to the customer, and it is therefore a waste. If the cycles are kept short, data scientists stop getting in their own way and come up with many reasonable solutions rather than one optimized one that will probably be abandoned after several months because the needs of the customer will change. I’ll paraphrase Henry Ford- if optimization decisions would be left to engineers, cars would never leave the factory floor.

Undoubtedly, "Automation" is our present reality, transforming jobs and industries. Raises valid concerns about people displacement but also creates new, high-skilled roles for people. Automation streamlines processes, cuts costs, and enhances efficiency. In short I see it as a tool to complement Human efforts. A great deal has been achieved in the manufacturing world across developed & emerging markets. But if we see its even more penetrating in the finance world. Jobs like Data extraction, transforming & loading to visualization tools have all seen tremendous amount of changes in past few years. We are continuously seeing these making job easier for a data scientist.

Enhance data science productivity with Git and GitHub for version control, JupyterLab for efficient coding, and CI tools for testing. Document thoroughly, containerize code, collaborate using communication platforms, manage data with DVC, and use ML libraries for speed. Stay updated, manage time wisely, seek feedback, and adopt an iterative approach for effective data science projects.

From my personal experience using GitHub, I found it to be a fantastic tool for boosting data science collaboration. With GitHub, my team and I easily shared and reviewed each other's code, leading to better code quality, fewer mistakes, and faster work progress. It saved us from having too many meetings, allowed us to learn from one another, and made it clear who contributed what, enhancing our teamwork.

Use a Data Version tool like DVC or AzureML Datasets for managing your data. Let's say a cron job trains a model every week with updated data. If the data is maintained in the form of csv files or json files then if the model performance drops during evaluation after training; you can easily revert the data changes and crun the job again if you have a Data Version system in place.

Breaking down our project into smaller, manageable parts allowed us to focus on each step more effectively. We could thoroughly analyze the code and identify areas for improvement in each stage, rather than grappling with a massive and potentially messy codebase. This approach streamlined collaboration and kept our team aligned, making the overall project much smoother and more successful.
