I am not afraid to say this; I expect becoming a senior lecturer has as much to do with the attitude of the people around the person becoming a senior lecturer as much as anything and imho a senior lecturer needs to have the attitude of a senior learner and to be seniorly responsible for the state of things around seniors given status. Seniority can be received or taken. I would suggest that some sort of gradual acceptance to a natural process would make a better journey to seniority than some kind of go-getting attitude to chase a better pension deal and a place in the car-park.

Es importante que el aspirante tenga los grados académicos de doctor y magister. Y contar con un diplomado en docencia universitaria y en tecnología. Además, debe contar con investigaciones publicadas. El aspirante no sólo debe tener experiencia, sino además debe contar con una conducta ética incólume en el ejercicio de la labor docente. Por último, el jurado evaluador debe darle un peso significativo a las encuestas realizado de los estudiantes como referente para conocer al docente desde la perspectiva del alumno el cual será finalmente a él o a ellos que revertirá todo su conocimiento académico en la materia a dictar con calidad científica, tecnológica y humanística.

Anecdotal, sure, but something that worked for me: try to find your "niche". Good lecturers aplenty, but not all of those can be promoted to senior lecturer. What gives you that special edge? Or in modern speak: What is your superpower? It could be related to course content (expert/specialist knowledge), perhaps to pedagogy, or to advanced knowledge of the industry or academic community for which you are educating your students. Find out, and if necessary, further develop what makes you the person to be promoted.

En mi experiencia, el viaje de ser profesor se disfruta desde la preparación de las clases con el equipo, cuando pensamos conjuntamente (1) ?qué es lo que verdaderamente deben saber los estudiantes?, (2)?cómo podemos lograr que ese aprendizaje sea entretenido, enriquecedor y significativo? y (3) ?qué dispositivos de evaluación efectivas podemos dise?ar para validar los aprendizajes? Luego, te tiene que gustar interactuar en el entorno de clases: dar lugar a la construcción colectiva con el equipo de cátedra y los estudiantes es uno de los puntos más satisfactorios de este rol. Caring about your students as people, calming anxiety episodes, mentoring them when they feel lost, guiding them to grow beyond what you are teaching them and helping them understand that grades are not everything in this world will make you a real professor.
