2 Get a relevant degree

The second step to become an engineer is to get a degree in engineering or a related field. Most engineering jobs require at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline, such as physics, mathematics, or computer science. To get a relevant degree in engineering. You need to start focusing on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and mathematics from your high school. It's better to get practical knowledge from high school, this will benefit you in getting into projects research, etc. for your bachelor's degree. Get admission for a bachelor's in engineering from a good university. After a bachelor's you can also enroll in a master's program. This will help you to apply for intermediate roles in industry than entry-level jobs. During your bachelor's program apply for internships/Co-op, as it will be beneficial to get work experience while apply applying for jobs after graduation.

As per a previous post / comment, you really don't have to have a degree to be an engineer. If you take an apprentice route then you can learn on the job whilst studying and, mostly, not at degree level.

If you take an apprentice route into engineering then you will get plenty of hands on experience in your day job whilst getting academic learning at the same time. By the time you finish your qualification you will have had plenty of real life experience.

On my pov, To become an engineer, though getting a degree from a reputed institution plays an important aspect , there are other things which needs to be done such as, 1. Understanding the concepts of engineering through application oriented projects gives better insights 2. Upskilling ourselves with current updates in the field adds some light to it 3. Be open to certain webinars related to engineering and make notes for the same 4. Have a deep dive approach on the concepts of engineering may it be a particular concept or a machine - go at it !! This way we can convert our knowledge into skill levelling up as an Engineer !
