Some things I think would be helpful are to have projects that you have completed individually that you can use as examples. This shows passion and dedication to the field as well as your ability to produce quality work. Teaching is also doing.

Becoming a TA can get you great opportunities to keep learning and mentor other students as well. Most of my friends who were TA’s utilized their time to start their masters graduate program during this period. Having their masters on weekend classes to utilize any free time they get. This ensures you keep learning while helping the students at the same time by mentoring and giving them advice.

Think out of the box. Elementary, middle, and high school CS teachers might love an assistant. You get experience. They get help. Together you can explore and build out curriculum. It's a great resume filler and, hey, you are literally changing the world every time you go to the school.
