When doing our latest Product development in 2022 on Key Refrigerator appliance in APAC, we wanted to ensure that we are realistic in our product market fit and our innovation and that it really benefits the consumer so we did the following:- 1) We matched the jobs to be done by our new product with the category promise 2) we ensured that the jobs to be done is solving real consumer pain points 3) We did consumer interviews & focus groups to verify our hypothesis of pain points, consumers, & USP vs competition 4) we conducted customer surveys including the product MVP tested with variety of segments to ensure that the correct segment would have the highest interaction & acceptability. the results came back positive with minor tweaks.

Also to consider: where is the product in its lifecycle: early adopters or majority will lead to very different priorities than late majority or laggard products.
