ITIL is a widely adopted ITSM framework, based on five stages: service strategy, service design, service transition, service operation, and continual service improvement. To apply ITIL, you need to assess your current IT service capabilities and maturity levels, define your IT service vision and objectives, identify key stakeholders and customers, design IT services and processes based on the ITIL principles and practices, implement and transition your IT services with the ITIL change management, release management, and configuration management processes. Additionally, operate and support your IT services using the ITIL incident management, problem management, request management, and event management processes. To monitor and measure your IT service performance and quality use the ITIL service level management, availability management, capacity management, and service reporting processes. Lastly, continually improve your IT services using the ITIL continual service improvement process and the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.
