Properly defining the process to analyze reduces unnecessary complexity and work and increases your chances of success. In a project I was part of, we validated a target state bond payments process with inputs from a target state loan position reporting process. Because the new loan position reporting process was not yet validated, the bond payment testing resulted in false fails. I identified the issue and led a team of data analysts to curate production loan position output to pass to the new bond payment process and compare the output to production bond payments while testing the new loan position process in a separate, parallel effort. Both new processes were then integrated tested when both had passed functional validation.
