Fourier transform in DSP is used in communication systems to transmit and receive information over various channels, such as radio waves, optical fibers, and wireless networks. Modulation and demodulation are processes which change the frequency, amplitude, or phase of a carrier signal according to the information signal. Fourier transform helps to design and implement different types of modulation and demodulation schemes, like amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and phase modulation (PM). Multiplexing is the process of combining multiple signals into one signal for transmission over a shared channel. Demultiplexing is the reverse process of separating the signals at the receiver. Fourier transform also helps to design and implement different types of multiplexing and demultiplexing schemes, such as frequency division multiplexing (FDM), time division multiplexing (TDM), and code division multiplexing (CDM).
