Axiomatic Design is a structured approach to system design, using matrix to examine conversion of functional requirements (FR) into design parameters (DP). At its core, this methodology utilizes a Design Matrix A to establish the relationship between a set of FRs and DPs: [FR1 FR2]=[A11 A21 A12 A22][DP1 DP2]. The nomenclature "axiomatic" arises from the application of axioms, guiding the analysis and decision-making processes. Axiomatic Design relies on two fundamental axioms: The Independence Axiom: Ensuring the autonomy of functional requirements (FRs). The Information Axiom: Striving to minimize the informational complexity inherent in the design.
