From experience, site visit is one of the most important steps should take place , which helps executing team to be aware of the conditions, surroundings, best way to deliver the materials…etc Integration process is mandatory to avoid future discrepancies, we need to know the stakeholders requirements, make the proper design which satisfy their needs with involving of all designing departments (arch,civil,elec,mech..etc) Soil borehole test is mandatory to know the nature of the soil, subsequently, the structural design will be proper to transfer the loads coming from the structures safely to the soil. During the execution, following weather forecasts is a simple way to know what’s coming like rain, winds..etc

I would add that a collaborative approach to teambuilding and or procurement methodologies that promote the engagement of key members of the team at the right time is a critical strategy in anticipating and managing changing conditions.
