I am not aware in this current business climate how you would justify offering support or resources that could help a vendor improve. Typically a vendor would have been selected based on the solution/service best fit along with capability of meeting the requirements at an affordable price and within specific timeframes. This is a slippery slope and much better to collaborate on a plan to get back on track, otherwise you are condoning the failure to meet SLA and setting a precedent. Having a Champion/Challenger vendor relationship as mentioned in an earlier article, where you can move the volume of business from the non-performing vendor to the new a challenging vendor. By reducing the volume the failing vendor may be able to perform better.
