I always advise my experienced clients to focus on what I call their qualifications summary; i.e, not just to list their jobs, everyone does that, or their skills, but what exactly have those skills enabled them to achieve for their employers. It isn't easy but it's very worthwhile. Career switching or not, spelling and grammar mistakes are an easy way to get you disqualified from the process. At first pass, a recruiter’s motivation is to find any reason to say no to you. Nothing personal. But if they have hundreds or more resumes to go through, they gotta get through them quick. A small spelling mistake, grammar, mistake, misaligned, formatting, inconsistent formatting, any one of those could be reason for the recruiter to dismiss your resume into the g-file (aka g for garbage). You don’t want your resume to be excluded based on a technicality.

Be sure to spell out acronyms not widely known, they can mean something different to every industry and even departments. It doesn't hurt to proof, edit or have more than one person review a few times a year to annually at a minimum. Version control issues can result in submitting unintended copies, failing to reflect the desired changes.

View failed interviews as a stepping stone and opportunity for "free on-the-job practice" and gather feedback from the interviewer. Getting feedback will help you improve and assess areas where you can sharpen how you present your skills and strengths on your LinkedIn profile, your resume and during the interview. I went through these and landed roles that valued my transferrable skills. It was hard to go through unsuccessful interviews and they impact our morale. But I did not give up. I kept going and now looking back, I was thankful for those lessons.
