1. Avoid jargon or greenwashing and emphasize your business's value-creating elements and impact (people, locations, and communities your start-up interacts with and influences). 2. Provide examples across your entire chain (suppliers, hiring, emissions, etc.) to demonstrate adherence to sustainability goals and environmental principles. 3. Consider the concept of Value Sharing, distributing the wealth generated by your organization among all stakeholders. 4. Then, demonstrate 'Value Amplification'- the increased impact a business can have to drive broader change in society and the economy (... diversity, equality, community education..) Reflect - how your startup can evolve to magnify its impact on society and the economy?

The definition of a startup which is more or less an American one is of a digital technology company that is for purely profit or investor returns. It makes sense due to the expectations of the investors and founders being of purely capital gains, market share and or downloads, DAUs etc. The past few years has seen the rise of a new kind of capitalist/investor, who is promoting 'Conscious Capital' investments. This kind of capital investment is conscious about the 3P impact their capital has beyond the unidimensional 'P of Profit', to include two more dimensions of P for Planet and P for People. The SDGs are a derivative and deconstruction of these 3Ps for measurement, reporting and analysis of the impact of enterprises beyond NGOs etc.

While clearly, the impact and innovation you introduce is the main message, don't forget to consider auxiliary aspects that could otherwise hamper your success. For example, you designed a new revolutionary water purifier. Amazing! But could local people operate and maintain it themselves? Is it easy to operate? is it durable? can it be customized for the many different conditions that exist outside lab environment? The answer does not have to be an emphatic 'Yes' to all the above. But if it isn't, what sort of contingency are you considering? or other further developments? Investors prefer a team that understands the real challenge, than a team packed with brilliant engineers. If you think you belong in the first category, show it

Focus on quantifiable metrics such as beneficiaries and resource savings. Tell a compelling story showcasing real-world impact using these metrics. Demonstrating tangible outcomes strengthens your pitch and resonates better with investors, making your presentation more impactful and convincing.

Very important to highlight your team for two main reasons: 1- The team feel recognition, which is not exactly a motivator but really good sense to have. 2- Give your company a human aspect. Who’s behind the product, who’s each and everyone (on the top level). I recommend always set it to 4-6 unless it’s absolutely necessary to have more 3- Write a slogan-like brief about everyone, something like: Hasan Marhoon (with a pic). A great strategic mind guides the company down tricky paths. 4- always have a word of the head of the team, whether CEO, Chairman, Founder. Usually you’ll write the words for him if you know him well, and he will just edit. Can work opposite way too ???
