1 Goal setting

The first step in any problem-solving process is to define your desired outcome and set a clear and realistic goal. Visualization can help you create a mental image of your goal and motivate you to achieve it. You can use a vision board, a collage of images and words that represent your goal, to inspire yourself and your team. You can also use a SMART goal template, a chart that helps you specify your goal in terms of being specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, to plan your actions and track your progress.

In the past, especially when I worked for the Federal Government, I would employ my own version of micro, meso and macro approach. Sure, the list provided by this article is great, but when you consider your vision, I think it wise to employ your own version what you see at the ground level, what you see when you take a step back and then what you see when you consider everything outside of the organization and how that will impact your ability to identify and solve problems. Understanding you team is paramount, understanding your organization is crucial, but I think it is important to consider the outer world factors too, (i.e. global supply chain, weather, natural disasters, etc).
