1 What is the UEQ?

The UEQ is a short and easy-to-use questionnaire that consists of 26 items, each representing a dimension of UX. The items are grouped into six scales: attractiveness, efficiency, perspicuity, dependability, stimulation, and novelty. Each scale measures a different aspect of how users perceive and feel about your product. For example, attractiveness refers to the overall impression and appeal of the product, while efficiency refers to how fast and easy it is to use. The users rate each item on a 7-point scale, ranging from -3 (negative extreme) to +3 (positive extreme). The UEQ provides a numerical score for each scale, as well as an overall UX score, that can be compared to a benchmark database of other products.

To assess the user experience of a product using the UEQ (User Experience Questionnaire), administer the standardized questionnaire to users post-interaction. 2 How to use the UEQ?

The UEQ can be used at any stage of your product development cycle, from prototyping to launch, to evaluate the UX of your product and identify areas for improvement. It can also be used to compare different versions or alternatives of your product, or to benchmark it against competitors or industry standards. To use the UEQ, you need to select a representative sample of your target users (ideally between 12 and 30 per product or version), ask them to use your product for a realistic task or scenario (in a lab setting or in their natural environment), and have them fill out the UEQ online or on paper as soon as possible. Afterwards, collect and analyze the data using the UEQ online tool or Excel template provided by the website, and interpret the results using the UEQ manual and benchmark database.
