Good article The real challenge will come when collecting right data that will enable the models to predict or prevent spillage in the supply chain. But this remain the approach in right direction and will continue to be so in coming years

One of the key aspects of enabling supply chain automation is defining an event-driven architecture and process automation to execute tasks intelligently based on certain conditions. Event Mesh in SAP BTP along with SAP Build Process Automation enables this by loose-coupling of applications and automation of processes. You can use Event Mesh to capture the business events from SAP S/4HANA or any other systems and define the workflows that need to be triggered automatically to execute certain tasks based on certain events if specific conditions are satisfied. E.g. rescheduling a production order or finding an alternate source for delay of delivery of raw materials for production.

2 Leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning

Another benefit of SAP Cloud is that it enables you to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enhance your supply chain automation capabilities. Using generative AI can be one of the options that is now enabled through AI Business Hub to create summary reports on the supply chain issues based on the alerts raised by different applications for a day or a specific time period. Predictive analytics based on ML models can help to indicate the spare parts needed to be stocked in a certain period which may be needed based on the equipment health prediction or possible delays for shipping from vendors.
