In prior declared disasters, if our volunteers were used to assist County or local agencies in Search & Rescue/Recovery of people, we asked permission from the agency to take video clips of our boats, dogs, drones, or volunteers in the area, w/our logo. We’re mindful of HIPAA! If we received approval, we documented where we were, & posted it on our FB pages. If we were really fortunate, we had the agency take photos &/or videos w/us. The MOST important thing was that we never claimed to be the “only” anything. NOBODY wants to work w/ orgs that are into self-aggrandizement. We always showed the coordinated efforts of all groups, & narrated the outcome, letting LEOs & FD preview our work for approval. Built trust with them.
