How can you use innovative problem solving for project management?

In the oil and gas industry, innovative problem-solving in project management involves integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. Utilize automation to streamline processes and implement real-time monitoring for better decision-making. Adopting agile methodologies and staying up with of industry advancements can improve problem-solving approaches in this sector.

More often than not the Innovative Problem Solving process must be used in a myriad of situations in the current workplace. It actually sounds kind of redundant, but it is surprising how many people expects to find the solution to a novel problem using the standard or 'classic' techniques. In reality this kind of innovative thinking requires several skills that if the person does not posses them naturally, these can definitely be developed and perfected with good mentoring, practice and some risk-taking enthusiasm when facing the situations. One example is using the Systems Thinking approach, but looking at the problem from an unsuspecting angle at the same time. The key is first finding the angle or perspective, then apply the approach.

In my experience, a factor that comes up constantly is the need to evaluate the type of client faced, along with the project requirements when performing the analysis of the solution required. Because of this, none of the standard estimation techniques were fully adequate when having to estimate a project. Using a combination of analysis tools, I created a tailored estimation method that can be used for the majority of our projects, factoring in external variables along with a modified PERT methodology and a few calculations for 'Weighing' these external variables, not taken into account before. The result, a much more agile estimation method that has proven successful in all the projects estimated and executed since. Happy and grateful!

Conduct brainstorming sessions for unconventional solutions. Embrace an iterative approach to refine solutions based on feedback. Encourage calculated risk-taking and view failures as learning opportunities. Provide training in creativity techniques and allocate dedicated resources. Foster collaboration for collective intelligence. Seek external input for fresh perspectives and adapt strategies when needed. Recognize and reward innovative contributions to sustain a culture of creative thinking.

The best way to improve innovation in problem solving is collaborating, in my opinion. Learning how others have developed solutions can help create new pathways of thought when faced with a problem. Not to mention the potential of running into similar challenges as peers/colleagues.

As our tools get more advanced, precise, & specific like AI, what is ultimately left? Creativity. True innovation lies in learning the limits of current understandings to build new creative pathways for our collective consciousness to expand our intelligence and wisdom upon. To learn & discover something new is one of the greatest gifts we could ever share with each other.

Laws of Nature and Nature of People.. We enter stage of excess resources(oil prices, interest rate go negative, towns and houses left empty, half built) All the problems.. So all the problems, especially project management, are about human, created by human. So how to create new needs is the key - this will create jobs, drive economy, promote interaction, integrate community, mitigate hostility and conflicts.

What is the wrong approach to project management is Clayton Christenson Disruptive Innovation. This is lack of understanding or respect.of history.of innovation. All gather insight, experience, rules from the existing, and try to ride on existing infrastructure, make the transition smooth, so faster economical...We do not tear down telephone line to run mobile. We do not abruptly switch all infrastructures from line, pager, 1G, 2G, 3G..nG.. This is not a matter of grace or gentleness, it is how our knowledge, technology are not one alien from Mars, isolated from all on earth
