How can you use Google Meet to facilitate virtual workshops?

While planning our workshop,first we need to outline our agenda or the goal of why we are going to take this workshop and what will be its topic and what we are going to present to the audience . After thinking about all of it,we can use Google slides for presentation and Google docs or sheets for creating the outline of our workshop and schedule the workshop using Google Calendar. These are the main keypoints to remember while planning a workshop.

One thing I've found helpful is setting a clear outline at the beginning of what guests can expect, what will be discussed and when questions can be answered. A slide deck from google sheets, or Ingage is an incredibly powerful tool I recommend using. This can help the presenter stay on track, not miss any vital points and most importantly allows the audience to better download the information being shared. Do a test run, maybe two before going live. Figure out what doesn't work before it has to.

While setting up the meeting ,the foremost thing is to create a meeting link for it. We can create this link by Google Meet and share it with the attendees. Before sharing the link just test your meeting link before the workshop starts and check if audio or video settings are proper and there is no cliche or any other issue.

You can create an instant meeting, or meeting for later directly on the meet.google site. Or alternatively when creating a google.calendar event you can add video conference as the meet option. Make sure you have clear audio with little to no background noise and are able to record in a well lit area. You should practice sharing your screen if your presentation includes visuals. It's important that when setting up the google meet that you allow permission settings for anyone to join. Otherwise - you will have to click "allow" for them to join the meeting.

For engaging your attendees,we can encourage participation through interactive tools like polls and Q&A sessions with them. Sharing links to be interactive with attendees and creating polls or sharing your screen with them. These are the great points to keep in mind while keeping your attendees engaged in the workshop.

In order to share your screen and audio - for example a youtube video that you need everyone to hear. You must share by TAB and not by WINDOW. You can select the icon to present to begin sharing or swap between tab, window, entire screen. There is also a record feature so you can send the meeting out for later that includes chat history. You can ask the audience questions and have them reply in the chat to survey a large amount of people quickly.

You can record the video and have the audio transcribed. This is great to send out to your guests for review or have your marketing team/video editor create content with. You can also get key-points, summaries and include that with your guests. This is a massive time saver and helps guests take immediate action.

We can record the workshop by using the screen recording feature in Google meet and share it with the attendees who missed the workshop. And we can share the useful resources as well post-workshops .

Great tips to be remembered for workshops is to check all your tools needed are perfect and there would be no issue while taking the workshop. Another one would consider the timings that it should start and end at the time given to the attendees and keep in mind that all your main points are covered while keeping your attendees engaged. For a safer side keep a backup plan if any issue arises while taking a workshop you are ready to face it.
