Interpretation of remote sensing data provides data which with the help of GIS tools can be converted into maps having direct relevance to the given task. Likewise many data layers can be studied individually or in combination for better understanding of area concerned.

Some also call it Geographic Information Science.It involves the use of softwares, hardwares, methods and peopleware in gathering, storing, processing, manipulating ,analysing and querying geographically referenced data.Remote sensing is the science, technology and to an extent the art of acquiring information about the earth surface without being in direct contact with the earth.
