This is an outcome from game theory; why produce diverse samples if you have found one sample that keeps fooling the discriminator? 3. These are all very valid challenges, but I would add one more: A lot of recent research has found that training generative models solely on AI-generated data will eventually lead to [catastrophic] model collapse. The concept is statistically intuitive if you think of the Central Limit Theorem. Model collapse due to AI-generated content can be mitigated by augmenting training data with real samples. Obviously, this works if you have only a limited amount of real data, but not if you have no real data at all.

If you want to truly understand how GANs work, it is best to start with the basics by building the simplest GAN possible, also known as the Vanilla GAN, using the Fashion MNIST dataset. Play around with the statistics of the model, see what it is capturing and what it isn't, look at embeddings, simply play around! Once you have a comfortable grasp of how a GAN works, start exploring the more sophisticated models. I recommend the DCGAN model as it is relatively easy to implement - yet very powerful and you'll learn how convolutional layers can enhance the GAN setup. I'd advise against learning TextGAN for the simple reason that you won't learn much of value relative to Vanilla GAN and DCGAN, and it underperforms relative to LLMS.
