How can you use decision analysis methods to make better transportation decisions?

In my experience to make the proper decision, you have to put hand first on the problem and what the root cause of this problem is, then you start to put the alternative solutions based on the information you have on hand and based on the resources which enable you of solving the problems and make the correct decision. Monitoring the result of the solution and how it works, gathering data , check if you need corrective actions or find another solution. One of the most important things to do to record that in the lessons learned.

Before you start to analyze the problem you need to study the factors that affect the organization. First step communication ,tell your leaders what's the main issue, tools need it and report. Secondly, you need a framework about the issue of studying SWOT, Finally creating the best alternatives and strategies to find out the best productivity for the Organization.

I remember one time a collegue of me trying to solve a simple transportation with strategic analysis. He made wrong decisions. So in my opinion any transportation as wide as could be in distance capacity and complexity is a linear problem. Use Strategic Analysis for something new. Opeartional Analysis for something big. And Tactical analysis for the detailed programm of a single transportation.

Making decisions on effective transportation solution would involve first identifying: - the need for the transport endeavor - whether it is the most effective way to satisfy the need it is working on - how much resources are consumed in the said effort and if the use of these resources can be optimized. - What would happen in absence of this transport option - the cost benefit analysis of all the transport options available.

Basically, to structure the problem of making decision could be laid on mind mapping. Like map routing the node lines from origin to trajectory, we can get sequencial stages in decision making, whether to go ahead or try alternative, even explore the lines during the time spands. The acknowledge intervention in helping simplify the problems is surely pushing through needs and preferences.

In a sea transportation the most frequent problem is the wrong calculation of the available area in the trasportation means with the area is needed for the upload of the freight. Divide the transportation in the following stages, embarkation, securing onboard, travel, appropriate destination in the terms of transportaion mean charactgeristic, dissembarkation.

One time in work trying to embarked simultanuously more than one transportaion mean the same time we found difficult to manipulate the area of the freight was before the embarkation. We need to establish the optimum flow of the stuff ariving in the embarkation area with the maximum capability of transportaion means. Sometimes the losses in time and money are more in case of approching the problem of how many transportaion could load the same time. We need the optimum between the capabilities of embarkation area and the availability of means each time. It is a problem of flow like the bernouli flow avoid being created in accordance with the physics.

Best choice for a Strategic analysis is the initiative directive to operators. Best choice for Operational analysis is the choice which can delegate mission to each Operator. Best choice for the tactical analysis is the choice which can outsource specific task for each action member.

A man prepare a trip with the car for his family. It was winter. He prepared the trip for any defficiency. He was sure that he will arrive on time to the destination. His wife advised him to vacant a second hotel reservation in case of something went wrong. He did not. But it happened. Always think of the Merpy's law.
