The best way to get noticed and keep growing is to proactively find opportunities to break out of your immediate network and showcase your work and ideas to a larger audience.

One thing I have found helpful when speaking in a conference is that you are able to reach out, interact and discuss with your audience real time. Your message and the feedback of the audience is actively digested as you lecture. You gain the momentum and your audience get that "aha" moment. Your presence gives it's impact.

Finding the right venue is a critical topic, especially in public performances. Goodness-of-fit is a key element, which is crucial for helping you thrive as a presenter at conferences. One of the best ways to practice is Visualizing. By visualizing we activate mirror neurons in our brains, which creates the same physiological reactions in our body as we experience an event in real life. So, by visualizing it we experience the same event in our head before its occurrence, and we are well prepared in advance.

Conferences are a great way to contribute your opinion however one of the greatest things that the audiences look for are " how to". While speakers present their perspective on the what and probably why, it adds a lot of weight if the speakers talk about the "how to" aspect as well. It paves a way for the audience to capture takeaways on how to implement what has been conveyed in the talk. Citing examples based on real life situations enables the audience to not only grasp the topic but focus on how they could use the examples in their own situations.

One of the key aspects of preparing to speak at a conference is what’s stories do you want to engage your audience with. Because rather than abstract techniques to be presented the audience will be more interested to hear about your journey the challenges and possible solutions that has helped you and probably will help them as well. The other secret to winning in conference speaking engagements is to find a good mentor who will be able to mentor and coach you on this journey of speaking. They can help you shape your crude ideas for talks in to crisp abstracts, help you with reviewing slides and provide critical feedback on mock presentations. Having a good mentor is a key lever to make a good talk in to a great one.

First impressions are so important. People make a first impression in 5-7 seconds. Make those first few moments count. How? 1. Tell a short story. 2. Share a simple statistic. 3.
