Many metrics reports are enhanced by color. I like to use red/yellow/green stoplight reporting. But many leaders like to avoid red because it triggers immediate negative reactions for some audiences.

The color palette needs to be consistent throughout the report to enhance readability. I agree not to use too many colors. The base choice usually would be to blend with the company’s logo colorways; you couldn’t go wrong. I tend to not go for Red, it is usually a triggering color although maybe necessary in different contexts.
