How can you use awards and recognition to boost your professional reputation?

The 80/20 rule applies even here. There are very few opportunities which are worth putting a lot of effort for. One of the best ways of finding out if it's worth it is to ask previous winners about their experience and insights. Not every award is rewarding :)

I fully agree with Mr. Adit Sreenivasan. Almost all awards require a process of registration, selection, etc. This involves preparing CVs, motivation letters, asking for recommendations, etc. Unless you are 100% sure that this effort is worthwhile, there is no point in applying for awards just for the sake of it. And if in doubt, the best thing to do is to ask former award winners. On social media, only the nice things come out, but not the obstacles along the way.

At the end of the day, the journey is always about the people and this is no different. The real question is not which award you want to apply for, but who you want to connect with. These awards are entry tickets to social groups that you don't have access to or that you need to stand out in your career. The best analysis of the theme is precisely about people: who has already won this award? Who will be present at the prize ceremony? Who are the groups that normally interact and value this achievement? If the answer to these questions is the people you want and need to connect with then go for it :)

In my experience, awards are a necessary part of career advancement. The fact that you do your job good, will give you a comfortable quality of life and maybe even bonuses, but will not give you progress in your career or desired job. So, my advice is to allocate extra time (incl. personal) to side and award activities in your company or company, that you want to work for. Always do 5-10% more than others and enjoy a successful career journey!

Absolutely, awards are like icing on the cake. They don't make the cake, but they sure make it more appealing. Your core value shines through regardless. Applying for an award that aligns with your values is a rewarding process in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. For instance, writing my application for the Global Student Prize helped me reflect on my journey as a student, the challenges I have faced, how I overcame these challenges and how these experiences have shaped who I am. These are questions we usually do not think of, and award applications act as a trigger to get you started. Once you are able to respond to these questions you can start addressing your imposter syndrome one bit at a time.

Nominating is Boastful.. However contribution to Company if seen as same as contribution to Family & Country will be much productive.. That is: if Companies are Zoo.. the Board says LION..!! THEN that should be a Metaphor dealing with Humans.. Meaning so Nominations can be ranked or Observed from the employees Ideations & solutions or Willingness to be non-monetary Stake holder & be treated as such.. Then Reward & recognition need not be a Separate ball game.. People can just be themselves at best of their Game.. Whatever their LABLE be...!! They would still be the Major player as they Choose to be-willingly.. They can be AGENTS of Change whenever they can.. The depth of their Understanding & Benefitial impact can be measured like 6Sigma..

I usually share my awards and recognition on my social media platform but I also try to be as authentic about my personal experiences as possible so that I don't come off as a perfect person who wins awards all the time (which is not true anyways). It is completely natural to feel a tinge of imposter syndrome when you win an award, but it is also important to reflect on what your journey has been like so far and what your learnings look like. Once you win an award it is all the more important to encourage people around you to aspire for such awards, support them with the application process wherever you can and keep doing the good work that you received the recognition for

A small idea will be Just to gift the Performer what they wish to own or buy.. Within a roof of affordability and decent hygiene.. Possibly that would yield a better sense of Legacy, Nostalgia & Gratitude.. . With lasting Emotional impact & hold sentimental relations.. Receipts of Merits,, do not carry same value in the long run of professional shifts. OR.. May be have a Magazine publish accomplishment.. That can have a Pan appeal in particular Group Companies or Domains.. IF IT can be permanent and accessible..

Why is it important to promote your awards, certifications, and any recognition you receive? ?? Humans are a herding species. As such, we rely on social proof to help us determine if someone is trustworthy, worth the investment, or a good bet. When you have received an award, that means an unbiased third party has evaluated you against your peers and determined you are the best of the best. That makes you a safer bet for someone looking to: - hire you - promote you - connect with you - support you Of course, if you are overly cheesy and spammy about it, people will find it repellant. But, finding a genuine way to authentically share your accomplishments will help people to feel connected to you and establish trust.

Promoting your awards and recognition is huge! When I received my certification for health coaching I told everyone and landed a weekly workshop by reaching out and telling someone about it. It’s important to display humility and gratitude when promoting these recognitions and awards as well!

For that I guess this need will be best possible satisfied by Global or National standard indication like army patches and stars or hold renoun club Membership card.. IF I understood correctly..

Awards often provide you with an opportunity to make your voice heard and speak out about global and local challenges that you are passionate about. They also enable you to connect with a lot of like-hearted people, build and join communities that align with your value systems and find potential collaboraters.

Anything that crosses your path should become a bounty for achieving greater levels of success. If you are confronted with obstacles, they should be repurposed as motivation and positive PR. Winning an award or other recognition should be considered for every avenue of forward momentum. Identify the key elements and goals that matter the most and follow up with both traditional and outside of the box ideas to make the most of the opportunities offered in winning an award. Allow it to be an internal confidence, a marketing element to gain traction, and a boost into the level of engagement and growth that meets and exceeds expectations. Be humble in character and bold in thinking that achieves excellence.

I guess this is what it all comes down to. Awards are usefull especially in a competitive industry. It makes you a cut above the rest! But again all that matters is the quality of the work. Awards can be bought. ????♂?

Awards do not define who you are, or the work you do. It is a third-party recognition of your work which means that not winning an award does not indicate that you are not doing good work, it simply means that the third party evaluating your work had different criteria. So it is really important to detach yourself from the outcomes of awards and focus on doing the good work you are doing. This is something I learnt the hard way and would love for you to keep in mind regardless of where you are in your personal or professional journeys.

How you talk about the awards you get I more important than the award itself. Even if its a small, not so relevant award but it teaches you important life lessons, then it definitely should be spoken about in depth

The book "Punished by Rewards" by Alfie Kohn clearly describes some pitfalls that should be avoided. Rather than giving out awards, companies should focus on intrinsic motivators to keep employees engaged.

Totally agree. Since we know that not everyone starts race from the same place, it is imperative that inclusion gets beyond the organization's radar and turn into part of the cultural status quo.

I absolutely agree, Arjanna! Whether it is a minority or someone who is just starting out their career or anyone else, finding a way to boost the visibility of others is always a great strategy. In behavioral economics, we look at the concept of reciprocity: we humans are compelled to give back to those who give to us. If you give generously (without looking for how it will benefit you) it will come back at some point. If someone you know won an award, brag about them on your platform! Yes, you can like it, yes you can leave a comment, but what if you were to post about them and share how awesome they are? It helps lift you both at the same time. Who will you support today? ??

Awards aren't everything. They are symbols of recognition and proof that you did something "right" (at least to a greater degree than others if it was a competitive reward, or to the degree necessary to be recognised in the first place). However - the absence of an award does not make you a failure, nor does it mean you are incompetent. One of life's hard lessons is that you will not always get the recognition you (probably rightfully) deserve. But don't give up - even if you are the only one who is capable of recognising your achievements, your reward is knowing that you are capable of rising above external validation to find fulfilment in your own existence.
