How can you use advanced design storytelling techniques to improve presentations?

No matter what I’m teaching, I always begin by asking the audience what they’re hoping to get out of the class/presentation. Then I can either highlight or downplay certain topics depending on their interest level. Additionally I like to ask them what their Knowledge base is for the particular subject. As presenters it’s sometimes easy to forget to mention the basics if we’ve been doing it for so long. Not everyone has the same depth or breadth of understanding.

Before starting to design, after receiving the client's needs and talking about all his expectations, it is possible to decide on what will be presented to him, in this way, the best ways to make him feel satisfied that his needs are taken into account and improve. And the upgrade has been done in order to raise the quality and finally the presentation and sees you as a member of what it has always been looking for.

When it comes to presenting creative work, it's important to minimize the "rabbit out of the hat" effect as much as possible. Because no matter how much you set your audience up, there will inevitably come the "reveal," which can go in any variety of directions if not properly prefaced. One perspective on the three-act structure is to: 1. Tell/prepare the client for what they're about to see and how it solves their problem 2. Show them 3. Remind them what they saw and how it solves their problem. Also remember that, during your setup, it is easier to shape an opinion than it is to change one when the rebuttals inevitably come.

Whenever we have the beginning, the middle and the end in the presentation and know what is clearly expressed in each section and how they are related to each other, it helps to better understand and convey the concept to the audience.

An audience is always looking for a connection between the two worlds which is the brand and the people. Weaving a story that connects the brand and the space to the the people who make it come alive and deliver a wholesome experience to the user that will I turn make the whole journey memorable and meaningful.

The difference leads to comparison, and in this case, the audience gets the right to choose by examining different situations and comparing them with each other. By repeating the items during the presentation, the level of communication increases and also it helps a lot to show the specific theme for the presentation in order to make the topic clear.

It’s important not to infantilize your audience with “lowball” questions, but to engage them with questions that allow them to shine without derailing the conversation. I’ve also found having audience members/students interact in small breakout groups can be really fulfilling for them and for the teacher/speaker. This allows them to practice what they’ve learned and can highlight areas that need further explanation.

It's essential to understand your audience's needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds to tailor your approach accordingly. By doing so, you can create a presentation that resonates with your audience and delivers a lasting impact.

One of the effective ways to practice filming yourself during the presentation and also timing it is how much time is needed for the presentation in each section. After reviewing the video and matching its time continuously, you can help to improve the quality and refining of your presentation.

Story is a powerful tool that is often misrepresented, misunderstood, and underutilized. Everything said above is correct, though more descriptive than prescriptive. It's important to understand the fundamentals. Emotion, isn't "added", it's generated through a story arc that triggers a ‘simulation’ response in viewers and allows them to ‘go along for the ride’. Fundamentally, a story is simply a problem being solved in a believable way. Without a problem (conflict / imbalance) and resolution, it's not a memorable emotional journey. The ‘way’ a story is told is the storytelling, which is important but less so than the “storyform” arc. Being a great storyteller is mostly about having a great story progression. I could go on, but hit limit.
