Basically, I agree with this very first step to decide whether or not to trust "the found online source" but I'd like to raise another opinion whether or not the reader/audience/researcher should categorize limitless online source? For instance, if you type a "word", "phrase" or "question" to look for a information source and receive a million of links/source to check them out, then whether you should go skimming to select which source/link you ought to read further. Official link/websites of New York Times or New Scientist is apparently more liable than some rag news, isn't? Hence, I guess we can save time to not check every source we have in hand but use effort to do check the trustworthier sources later.

I think before going to check the evidence using in an online article/source, we should feel to check the quality of language to be used. Of course, nowadays with AI and chatGPT it is not easy to recognize the language and I am in doubt that maybe the AI-powered article might be smoothly and more human styled than a humanized one. However, my point is the language using will show you at least 20% of the source quality. There is spell, typos, gramma errors, sentence structure looking weird, then such source should be ignored without checking evidence/fact as mentioned. Why? If the author is serious, would he/she let his/her artworks look like trash? Nope, for sure.

Maybe but it is not always right if what have been looking for the past or history. Thus, I would like to revise a bit on this idea is that "check the currency to see whether it fit/appropriate with what you are looking for", if yes then you may consider to trust it and use it.

This seems helpful for me since I have never thought of that before. Normally, it might be clear when you come to a specific online source. A newspaper with informative functions, a science organization with a studying/research purpose, etc. Hence, I am thinking whether we need to check the purpose? Anyway, I will try next time for any research online.

From my perspective, I think this is a "nice-to-have" step because maybe there is not feedback or comment at all. Social media and online world are virtual, people tends to have fun and enjoyable activities rather than posting something too serious. If not, then sometime the comments go to far and turn to negative and become arguements. Of course, we may find something different but it is rare. So it is not compulsory to check the feedback.

Do you respect the intellectual property, privacy, and security of other sources and users?
