By doing this research, you will be able to identify how your project aligns with their goals, and what they are looking for in a grant proposal.

Some foundations make available grant awards they in past years both amount and type of grant. If you can access such information, it can give you a clear picture of the foundation's interest and general level of funding it will provide. Keep in mind that foundation's can year to year adjust their focus on types of projects and activities that will be funded so it is always best to check their website to see if there have been any changes. There are excellent resources like the Foundation Center which provides extensive details on thousands of philanthropies but even though they are nonprofit the services are not free. Value of such resources is based on how many applications you plan to pursue. If high number, joining may be worth it.

2 Customize your proposal

Once you have done your research, you need to customize your proposal to match the corporate foundation's expectations and interests. You need to show them how your project will benefit their company, their employees, their customers, or their community.
