Reading the JD thoroughly and mapping out the keywords to use can help you figure out what you should add to your resume from your work experience. Candidates often get confused as to what part of their work experience should they add in their resume. Once you understand the expectations from the role (skills, responsibilities etc), you can then map these to what you've done in your work experience. Use it as a tool to create an effective outline.
