Embrace an organisation that displays gratitude. One thing I'm always passionate about is implementing company rituals that allow members of the organisation to praise colleagues. The most effective and simple way to do this is to create a company-wide channel (on Slack, teams etc) that has prompts for people to display gratitude. And gratitude is infectious! Once a few people start, everyone contributes and it can have a really powerful effect on the organisational psyche

At a previous company- Shriram Life Insurance, we launched a recognition program to highlight employee achievements. One quarter, a junior sales executive exceeded his targets by 50%. We publicly acknowledged his efforts with an award and a feature in our company newsletter. This simple act of recognition boosted his morale and inspired his colleagues to excel. Over the next few months, we saw a noticeable increase in overall team performance and engagement. I have found that not listening to employees can cause disengagement and repetition of past mistakes which can kead to lack of confidence in the company overall. Your employees are the single best source for understanding how well you're doing as a leader. Think of employees as customers of your business. You would always start with their feedback to build a better product, right? Allowing employees to feel like they have equity in how the business is built, or the direction a team takes will make them feel impactful, and more likely to increase the value they add to the organisation. Practically, you can use team retro's, eNPS surveys or company offsites to gather feedback and make them feel heard.

One thing you can do is provide opportunities for professional growth and development, showing a commitment to their long-term success. If your team can sense your genuine interest in their development, they will foster the drive to want to improve. Additionally, consider fostering a healthy work-life balance, promoting a culture that prioritizes well-being, which includes the development of skills.
