To set achievable career goals : 1. start by defining specific objectives. 2. align them with your skills and interests. 3. break them into smaller tasks, and establish a realistic timeline. 4. Regularly assess your progress and be flexible in adapting goals as your career evolves.

Don't set career goals blindly! As an executive coach, I stress self-assessment first. Know your strengths, skills needing work, and how your work aligns with your values. Are your goals about deepening expertise or branching out? Tools to help: SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Honest feedback: 360-reviews, or targeted surveys of mentors/colleagues. Self-assessments: Explore work style, values alignment, not just skills.

One can set achievable career goals by: Making a mind as to what option to go for( either by research or counselling) One need to plan accordingly and build your strategy to grow accordingly. Once u have decided/ committed and sure about your goals go for it!!

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable , Relevant, and Time-bound. It is important to think about what you want to accomplish, how you will measure success, if it is possible, if it aligns with the big-picture and when you want to accomplish it by. For example - Overall goal is: to find a new job - SMART goal: I will apply to 3 jobs each week starting March 1 and will continue for 3 months.

Bold goals need bold action, but even the best plans require adjustment! As executive coach, I stress progress tracking as not about babysitting yourself, but about staying agile in a changing landscape. Key Points: Metrics: Don't use generic success measures. Goals about visibility? Track thought leadership metrics, not just revenue. Feedback: Get targeted input from your team, mentors, etc. to gauge the true impact of your actions. Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge progress to fuel motivation and spot what's working well! Tools: Use voice memos, apps, or quick calls with me/mentors to track data efficiently.

Career choices are tricky, early on one chooses a career not from passion but because of herd mentality or from financial gain. Over time, esp. when the employee is about 37 years old, career crisis hits and they start reviewing their career choices. In my experience with several Leaders, I have found the career anchor assessment very useful as it clarifies one's career values and provides a direction to take for the next 30+ years of career.
