This is the sweet spot. Back in the day, I worked with two groups of people. Those that loved the scale-up, and those that were scale-out. It was like the remake of West Side Story. You need more than just hardware to solve this problem for you. How you architect and write a data pipeline can and will have a tremendous impact on the running cost of the solution you implement. For example, if you use the non-Apache-Spark version of Pandas, it will not matter how much hardware you throw at the problem; the code will only ever run on the driver.
