1 Know your audience

Before you prepare your CTI presentation, it’s important to understand who you are speaking to and what they prioritize. Your executive leadership and board of directors may be busy, strategic, and focused on the bottom line. Hence, you need to tailor your CTI presentation in a way that doesn’t involve technical details, jargon, or acronyms. Your presentation should focus on how cyber threats affect your organization's goals, reputation, and performance. You should be prepared to answer questions such as: what are the most critical cyber threats facing our organization and why? How do these threats impact our business objectives, operations, and customers? What are we doing to prevent, detect, and respond to these threats? How effective are our current security measures and capabilities? What are the gaps and challenges that need to be addressed? And what are the best practices and recommendations to improve our security posture and resilience?

Using a framework like the PESTLE model for presenting CTI can help structure your presentation and ensure that you cover the essential elements while delivering a clear and consistent message. This model can assist in analyzing and explaining how external factors influence the cyber threat landscape and how they affect your organization. For example, it can be used to describe the political context and motivations of cyber threat actors, assess the economic impact and costs of cyber attacks, highlight social implications and consequences, explain technological trends, identify legal and regulatory requirements, and evaluate environmental factors and risks.

Visuals can be a powerful tool when communicating CTI findings and recommendations. Visuals can capture and keep the attention of your audience, simplify complex or abstract information, illustrate and compare data, trends, or patterns, emphasize and reinforce key points or messages, and inspire and motivate action or change. Examples of visuals that can be used in a CTI presentation are charts and graphs to show quantitative data, maps and diagrams to show spatial or relational data, icons and symbols to show categorical or qualitative data, and images/videos to show visual/contextual data.

4 Use stories

Stories can help you connect with your audience and make your CTI presentation more engaging and memorable. Through storytelling, you can humanize and personalize cyber threat scenarios, demonstrate the real-world impact of cyber threats, share examples and lessons learned from experiences, evoke emotions and empathy in your audience, and influence them to take action or support your recommendations. For example, you could tell success stories of how organizations prevented or mitigated a cyber attack by using CTI; failure stories of how organizations suffered or learned from a cyber attack due to a lack of CTI; customer stories of how organizations helped or protected a customer from a cyber threat by using CTI; and competitor stories of how organizations gained or lost a competitive advantage due to a cyber threat or CTI.

Feedback can be a great tool to help you improve your CTI presentation and ensure that you meet the needs and expectations of your audience. It can validate and verify the accuracy and relevance of your CTI findings and recommendations, identify and address any gaps, errors, or misunderstandings, measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of your CTI presentation, and learn and apply best practices for future CTI presentations. Examples of feedback that you can use in your CTI presentation include pre-feedback, such as asking for input or questions before you start; during-feedback, such as asking for reactions or opinions during your presentation; and post-feedback, such as requesting feedback or ratings after it ends.

é importante ser claro e conciso sobre a quest?o. O nível da alra gest?o pode n?o entender da área técnica mas eles entendem bem sobre riscos ao negócio. Apresentar os riscos, da ótica do plano diretor da institui??o dá as ferramentas para auxiliar os gestores a fazer o que eles fazem de melhor: decidir. Você vai ser o proxy entre a parte técnica e a parte gerencial/executiva, ent?o é muito importante saber traduzir as informa??es de forma ágil, permitindo que a partir do trabalho da equipe técnica os gestores possam fazer o trabalho de gest?o, principalmente pq em seguran?a da informa??o se vc n?o age rápido, vc se coloca em vulnerabilidade por mais tempo que o necessário.
