I advise our hosts to try to understand where the guest is coming from, and why, because it's all about respect. Finding something you can agree on early helps build repour and shows the audience they can talk, even if they don't see eye to eye. I also encourage hosts to ask questions that get each person thinking, not just defending their own corners. This way, we all learn something and it's more about connecting than clashing.
