I would like to add few points here. -Clearly explain the problem your business solves -Make it clear why they should invest -Focus on USP (unique selling point) If you're seeking large investment make your strategy clear.

Pitching your Seed-stage business? Remember, it's both an art and a strategy. Lean into the 'hero's journey: present your venture as the hero, the unique solution to a huge problem that is transforming an industry and winning over customers. Combine this narrative with hard facts and a crystal-clear vision. Emphasize your authoritative expertise, reflecting on past endeavors, whether successful or failed. Never ever pitch. We’re in 2023 not 1993. No one wants to listen to a pitch. Discuss, listen, question and take away all the info you need to propose a specific solution. Not a pitch !!

I saw the critical need of thoroughly studying & comprehending my target audience as I was establishing my company. The most important thing that any investor ideally looks for is a good team, market size, problem statement, USP of your product and the clarity on target audience. So if as a start-up you have a clarity on who exactly is your target audience then you will be able to make an impression in no time. Knowing your audience will help you in multiple things that includes but is not limited to: - Go To Market Strategy - Marketing Plans - Potential Collaborations - and a lot more

More often than not founders fail to understand that storytelling is the best way for them to present their facts and ideas in a coherent manner. If you can talk about the impact, the change and the good that your start-up is going to make at scale then trust me you are already a potential investment opportunity for Investors. If you can grab their interest and can make them ask you questions then that means you are on the right track.

It's important to have the confidence to ask for investment. You have to believe you deserve the investment. This is underestimated. One way to improve your story is to have a command over all the data you will use to tell the story of why and how you will succeed. When you can share the story without slides, you are ready to share your story. Practice.

Elevator pitch! In most cases you barely have an elevator ride to explain your idea! That’s were the phrase comes from. A coupe for seconds to spark one’s interest! What is your idea? Why is better than Competiton? The problem it addresses? Why now is the best time to invest? Yes all these answered in a couple of seconds in a nicely made sentence! You will always be pitching so be prepared with your elevator

Arguably the most important part of an early-stage pitch is why you are the person to solve a particular problem. The story should run through you. Practice practice… practice.. the best way to practice is just pitch to someone. You will get immense feedback from their facial expressions, weather they understood, if a particular word is unclear, etc. mostly it helps you conquer your fear of speaking to large or small crowds. You pitch will become second nature especially the common asked questions!

I'm personally putting together a "hard questions" doc that combines all the conversations I've had with VCs, other startup players, and a range of other thought partners. It really depends how the conversation goes. Sometimes you can tell a particular investor / VC / capital provider isn't really a great fit for you. In that case, a light note is good, but don't indicate intent for follow-ons you don't need.

If your pitch doesn’t yield the desired outcome, don’t be disheartened. Instead, stay connected with the VC fund or investor. Initiate a follow-up, even if it’s just a brief email, to request feedback. This not only demonstrates your dedication but also opens doors for potential recommendations to other investors whose investment thesis aligns more closely with your idea. Remember, building relationships in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem is critical, and maintaining contact can lead to valuable opportunities

And, I would add, having sold for decades: People do not move from good to better; The move from "pain to less pain" So find a "pain need"

Some of the best pitches I've heard were less about the content, but about how believable the founder was when they delivered it. And a lot of it had to do with whether they were convincing me of their commitment and whole hearted belief behind their venture. Take time to reconnect with your big "Why?" before pitching. It'll drive connection well with your audience.

Successful entrepreneurship today is very much about collaboration and storytelling. Generally the beginning of the story is about the struggle to bring the new better idea to market and the collaboration that it took, to achieve the success to date. The entrepreneur then must share his vision of the heights to where the enterprise can go via this investor collaboration and the injection of this capital. The investor wants to be an important part of the story and the success of the enterprise, not merely to be financially rewarded(even though this is also an important consideration) You’re creating a winning team both internally and externally with the investor. Everyone wants to be on a winning team.
