1 What is TCP?

TCP is one of the most common protocols used to send data over the internet. It ensures that the data is delivered reliably, in order, and without errors. TCP does this by dividing the data into segments, assigning sequence numbers to each segment, and sending acknowledgments to confirm the receipt of each segment. If a segment is lost or corrupted, TCP will retransmit it until it is received correctly. TCP also adjusts the speed of data transmission according to the network conditions, to avoid congestion and buffer overflow.

5 What are the alternatives to TCP for VoIP?

TCP is not the only protocol that can be used for VoIP; there are other protocols that can offer different trade-offs between security, reliability, and latency. For example, UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is faster and simpler than TCP and can reduce latency and overhead for VoIP. However, it does not encrypt or authenticate the data, nor does it handle packet loss or congestion.
