Testing, according to the Lean Six Sigma definition of a value adding activity, doesn’t satisfy all the three Cs: Changes the thing (product), Customer willing to pay for it and Correct the first time and is therefore a non value adding activity. Given that, the goal of any test team should be to eliminate itself. A trend of reduction of the testing efforts for a size of work, while improving the quality of testing , is to be targeted and the strategies could be one or many depending on the problem area. Does your testing team measure itself this way?
