Here's the tip for this optimization. First of all, you need to know - this image will go to the web only or to the print also? IF printing is possible - prepare your image for the print(!) first. Prints are using HQ images (hi-rez, 300+ dpi, etc.). Later for the web, you can reduce the quality and the size of the image. But you can NOT do vice versa - web -> print. Because, you always can downscale (or shrink) your raster image, but almost never - enlarge the raster image.
If you don’t know what “Colour Gamut” means, go look it up. The implication is that consistent colour is not entirely possible. Not every RGB colour exists in CMYK and Pantone. Not every Pantone exists in RGB and CMYK. Not every CMYK exists in Pantone and RGB. Look at a sheet of matte paper. That’s white. Now look at a white monitor. That’s also white. But no paper white will ever look like the monitor white, and no monitor white will look like paper. The same goes for black. Oh and don’t forget, modern devices are constantly changing the designer’s specified colours at the level of app and OS. Open your phone and walk between two different light sources, watch the colours shift. Tilt your phone, watch the colours shift.
