How can you motivate team members to work harder and smarter in E-Commerce?

It is important to set goals that are both realistic and MEANINGFUL. As a developer and consultant, I cannot explain the frustration of working on a project that I know will lack impact, and is simply the demand of a flustered entrepreneur with strong opinions and limited experience. Assigning questionable work based on subjective opinions just to fill out hours is a sure way to kills your team's motivation. Instead, try having genuine conversations with your team about your goals and strategies for the business. This will allow them to fully understand the work they are doing and offer their own valuable input. Every employee is a living thinking human being who wants to be heard, and communication is key in the success of any business!

In my opinion, the first step is to ensure that there are some clear goals established for you and your team. There is nothing more demotivating, than working hard on something, only to realise that there is no clear indicator of the actual goal that you are looking to accomplish, or surpass. These goals of course will need to be clearly aligned with your overall e-commerce strategy, to ensure that these team mebers are delivering value in all the right and various areas.

1. Set clear and realistic goals 2. Respect them 3. Give them responsibilities and not overcontrol 4. Make weekly 30-minute 1-1 calls and talk about anything they want 5. Pay well 6. Fire bad employees

In my company, my employees and anyone in the team is a partner in the company. If they win a new client or project, they make more money. If they don't do their job and we lose a client or project, it affects their own pocket. So the way I run my companies I don't need to motivate anyone to do their job as they have piece of the pie. If they want more, they need to work hard or smarter or both!

Create a Positive Work Environment: Foster a culture of positivity, inclusivity, and support.
