1. The Client initiates an RDP connection to the remote computer or server using TCP port 3389 2. The client and the remote computer establish connections, set the encryptions, and authenticate the user. 3. The server creates a virtual session for the client and sends the screen update with keyboard and mouse events over the RDP connections. 4. The RDP packets encapsulate all the communications between the client and the server including the keyboard, mouse, and audio events over the network using TCP. 5. RDP encryptions can use various algorithms such as RSA and AES to protect the data in transit. 6. RDP security considerations are " Strong Password, Network Firewalls, encryption, regular updates, and multi-factor authentication.

RDP protocol is provided by microsoft which allows the users to execute remote operations. The traffic is encrypted and if the remote operation included a heavier data transmission like a video/audio packets due to higher bandwidth requirements, packet loss can be greater which adds up to the latency and performance of overall network. This will impact the user experience too.

Generally the tools mentioned are used for any kind of networking analysis not only RDP but surely they can be used. Iperf and witeshark has helped me very much in this case.
